With how popular CBD has become, there are many people trying to find accurate information out there. Trying to find reliable sources to get the answers to questions such as, “Is CBD Oil safe?”
The problem is people don’t know who to trust, especially if they’re being introduced into CBD for the first time! We’re here to help you make the decisions that will be the best for you and your family!
Is CBD Oil Safe?
With the popularity and potential benefits of CBD, it’s pretty easy to see why you may be curious about safety. Let’s start this discussion with the bill that was passed to make hemp growing as possible as it is today in the US.
2018 Farm Bill
In 2018, the World Health Organization released a report that found CBD contains zero health risks to humans and animals, and it also highlighted that CBD is not addictive and contains no potential for abuse.
“To date,” reads the report, “there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
The World Health Organization reports that any reported adverse effects of the use of CBD are likely a result of interactions of CBD and a person’s existing medications. This is why we still do recommend that if you’re on any medication, you consult with your healthcare provider.
So the answer to the question, “Is CBD oil safe?” Generally speaking, yes, CBD oil is safe, but there are certain things to look out for when buying.
How to Buy Safe CBD
There are hundreds and hundreds of CBD companies out there, and some of these companies do some less than ethical things to either cut costs or promote their product as something more than what it actually is. Or even worse, they could contain dangerous synthetic CBD.
CBD oil is not a product you should look to skimp on quality with. You need a trusted manufacturer that makes CBD oil products that are rich in natural CBD and terpenes.
With all of these CBD oil companies flooding the market, it can be difficult to know who to trust and where to find high quality, safe CBD oil. So, step one is finding a company that you can trust!
How to Find a CBD Company You Can Trust
There are plenty of factors to keep in mind when finding a company you can trust that makes high-quality CBD products. A few of the most important to look for are:
- Where the hemp is sourced
- The “type” of CBD
- If the company third-party lab tests their product (and is openly providing these results)
Where is the hemp sourced?
Hemp is farmed all over the world, and the US only recently started to rebuild its hemp industry. With that being said, the US hemp industry is held to much higher standards than most of the rest of the world, and therefore produces some of the best quality cannabis and hemp products in the world.
The lowest quality CBD oil products are usually produced in Asian countries where quality standards are much lower. CBD oil products produced in China are most often made from strains of industrial hemp, not rich in cannabinoids and terpenes, and may constrain toxic pesticides illegal in the US.
The Type of CBD
Not all hemp is created equal, and not only because of the growing standards. Industrial hemp is grown with the intent to be used for its seeds and fibers and is not bred to product high level of cannabinoids and terpenes. On the other hand, PCR (Phytocannabinoid-Rich) hemp was specifically cultivated to be rich in cannabinoids and terpenes.
If a manufacturer specifies that their CBD was extracted from industrial hemp, it’s safe to assume that their product is lower quality than other products from PCR hemp.
You should also make sure to look for products that are either full spectrum or broad spectrum. There are a few other options out there that are either not as effective or potentially harmful, such as synthetic CBD. With either a full or broad spectrum product from PCR hemp, you have a much higher chance of getting a premium CBD oil.
Third-Party Lab Testing
One of the most important things to pay attention to is if a company conducts third-party lab testing. More serious manufactures will send their products out to testing labs to determine whether or not they contain any contaminants and also to measure the levels on cannabinoids in the product.
Manufacturers you can trust will openly provide the lab resorts for each batch of products being sold.
The bottom line is choosing top-tier products is key to your CBD use experience. No matter if you are brand new into CBD and hemp or a seasoned veteran, a little research can go a long way in ensuring you get the most out of your CBD.
